What staff is available at PRAXIS?
PRAXIS has on staff a teacher licensed in emotional and behavioral disorders. This teacher is licensed from the state of Minnesota to serve students who have been identified as having an emotional or behavioral disorder. The PRAXIS EBD teacher facilitates implementation of the student's IEP/IIIP, seeking to meet the identified needs. The EBD teacher will be the educational case manager and is responsible for working with the team to develop the individual program for the student and for the implementation of the plan the IEP/IIIP team agrees upon, with assistance as needed from the Pipestone Special Education Cooperative. The case manager will also be responsible for monitoring progress on goals and objectives; doing quarterly grade/behavior progress reports, completing assessments as needed, and distributing information to all team members. Students' behaviors and academics are monitored daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly to communicate to the team members on progress, concerns, and strength areas.
The PRAXIS group leaders work to support students on their IEP/IIIP goals and, for residential students, on their individual treatment goals. Residential treatment goals relate to Positive Peer Culture, a method of individual and group accountability. Monthly progress reports communicate to the team how students function outside the school day. Residents attend daily groups that allow practice for more positive social skills, conflict resolution, behavior management, and values clarification.
Educational paraprofessionals are on staff to assist with the implementation of the IEP/IIIP. They work under the direction of the EBD teacher.
